City Council Decision
Councillor Layton, during the morning session of the meeting on December 5, 2018, reminded Members that December 6th is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in memory of the women who were killed at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal on December 6, 1989. Councillor Layton encouraged all Members of Council to sign his poster of the White Ribbon Pledge to end male violence against women and girls, which he will then display in his office, as he did at the start of the previous term.
Mayor Tory, during the morning session of the meeting on December 5, 2018, remarked that Councillor Layton's father, Jack Layton was one of the founders of the White Ribbon Campaign in 1991. Mayor Tory encouraged all Members to sign Councillor Layton's copy of the White Ribbon Pledge.
Mayor Tory, during the morning session of the meeting on December 5, 2018, acknowledged City staff who contributed to the report on recalibrating City Council's governance system for 26 Members and thanked them for their efforts.
Mayor Tory, during the afternoon session of the meeting on December 13, 2018, welcomed Heather Taylor, Chief Financial Officer to the Chamber for her first meeting since being appointed by City Council in July.
