Summary
The Board of Directors of Toronto Parking Authority (TPA) considered Item PA8.12, Toronto Parking Authority Human Resources Matters, at its July 23, 2019 meeting, in which the Board received an update on TPA human resources matters.
As a further update, this report is provided for information purposes regarding the results of the last Employee Engagement Survey at TPA. In 2018, TPA administered an Employee Engagement Survey to obtain feedback from all TPA employees.
Based on the results from the 2018 Employee Engagement Survey, TPA developed action plans at the departmental and organizational levels. At the organizational level, for 2019, TPA identified key initiatives focused on culture and transformation:
- Launched employee engagement initiatives to improve internal communications and develop leadership. These initiatives included the expansion of communications channels and informal employee discussion groups, enabling learning opportunities for employees and leadership/management training.
- Introduced a new performance management system supporting leadership development and project management capabilities.
These initiatives are well underway and will continue into 2020. Going forward, the results of the Employee Engagement Survey will continue to be used to focus TPA's efforts on building an engaged, high-performing, adaptive, and productive workforce to meet TPA's current and future needs.
