Community Council Decision

Etobicoke York Community Council:

1. Authorized Transportation Services to request the City Clerk to poll eligible householders in English or any other language specified by Community Council, on Waterford Drive, between Wincott Drive and Holgate Street, to determine if property owners/occupants support the installation of speed humps, according to the City of Toronto Traffic Calming Policy.

2. Subject to favourable results of the poll:

a. Authorized the installation of traffic calming (speed humps) on Waterford Drive, between Wincott Drive and Holgate Street.

b. Directed the City Solicitor to prepare a by-law to alter sections of the roadway on Waterford Drive for traffic calming enhancement, generally as shown on Drawing EY19-058, dated August 2019 and circulated to residents during the polling process.

c. Reduced the speed limit from 40 km/h to 30 km/h on Waterford Drive, between Wincott Drive and Holgate Street, when the speed humps are installed.

Summary

This staff report is about a matter that Community Council has delegated authority from City Council to make a final decision.

Transportation Services is requesting approval to install speed humps on Waterford Drive, between Wincott Drive and Holgate Street. Staff's assessment indicates the criteria as set out in the Traffic Calming Policy has been satisfied. Therefore, speed humps should be installed on this section of Waterford Drive, subject to positive results of the traffic calming poll.
