Summary
The Auditor General's report Opening Doors to Stable Housing: An Effective Waiting List and Reduced Vacancy Rates Will Help More People Access Housing was adopted by City Council on July 16, 2019, along with 34 recommendations for the Shelter, Support and Housing Administration (SSHA) division. As detailed in the Management Response, SSHA agreed with and is working towards the advancement of all recommendations.
This report responds to City Council's request that SSHA report quarterly to City Council through the Economic and Community Development Committee, with information on service improvements and modernization initiatives made to the centralized waiting list, accuracy of waiting list data, an update on vacant units, the status of implementation of the new choice-based model, as well as progress made on the recommendations outlined by the Auditor General (Appendix A).
