City Council Decision

City Council on March 26 and 27, 2018, adopted the following:

 

1.  City Council request the City Solicitor and the Chief Planner and Executive Director, City Planning, to report on any planning and/or legal authorities that are available which would permit the City to impose conditions for affordability for rented laneway housing as part of the report going to the Toronto and East York Community Council in the second quarter of 2018.

 

2.  City Council direct the Deputy City Manager, Cluster A, to report to the Executive Committee in 2019 on a cross-divisional strategy to make rental housing more affordable for Torontonians as part of the Housing Opportunities Toronto Action Plan 2020-2030. 

 

3.  City Council direct the Chief Planner and Executive Director, City Planning, to report on measures to secure tenancy for renters in apartments with less than six (6) units in the second quarter.

Committee Recommendations

The Executive Committee recommends that:

 

1.  City Council request the City Solicitor and the Acting Chief Planner and Executive Director, City Planning, to report on any planning and/or legal authorities that are available which would permit the City to impose conditions for affordability for rented laneway housing as part of the report going to the Toronto and East York Community Council in the second quarter of 2018.

 

2.  City Council direct the Deputy City Manager, Cluster A, to report to the Executive Committee in 2019 on a cross-divisional strategy to make rental housing more affordable for Torontonians as part of the Housing Opportunities Toronto (HOT) Action Plan 2020-2030. 

 

3.  City Council direct the Acting Chief Planner and Executive Director, City Planning, to report on measures to secure tenancy for renters in apartments with less than six (6) units in the second quarter.

1.  City Council request the City Solicitor and Acting Chief Planner and Executive Director, City Planning to report to Planning and Growth Management Committee and Tenant Issues Committee on any planning and/or legal authorities that are available which would permit the City to impose conditions for affordability for rented laneway housing as part of the report going to the Toronto and East York Community Council in the second quarter of 2018.

 

2.  City Council direct the Deputy City Manager, Cluster A, to report to the Executive Committee in 2019 to the first meeting of Tenant Issues Committee in 2019 on a cross-divisional strategy to make rental housing more affordable for Torontonians as part of the Housing Opportunities Toronto (HOT) Action Plan 2020-2030.
