City Council Decision

City Council on July 4, 5, 6 and 7, 2017, adopted the following:

 

1. City Council authorize the General Manager, Parks, Forestry and Recreation to accept a donation of $0.03 million from The Daniels Corporation to fund the restoration of programming at SH Armstrong Community Centre/ Duke of Connaught Pool, in compliance with the City's Policy on Donations for Community Benefits, and to negotiate and sign a donor agreement on terms and conditions satisfactory to the General Manager, Parks, Forestry and Recreation and in a form satisfactory to the City Solicitor.

 

2.  City Council authorize the General Manager, Parks, Forestry and Recreation to accept a donation of $0.015 million from Sierra Building Group to fund the restoration of programming at SH Armstrong Community Centre/ Duke of Connaught Pool, in compliance with the City's Policy on Donations for Community Benefits, and to negotiate and sign a donor agreement on terms and conditions satisfactory to the General Manager, Parks, Forestry and Recreation and in a form satisfactory to the City Solicitor.

 

3. City Council increase the Approved 2017 Parks, Forestry and Recreation Operating Budget by $0.055 million, and increase the staff complement by 0.35 to reverse the Parks, Forestry, and Recreation service efficiency "relocation of programming from SH Armstrong Community Centre/Duke of Connaught Pool", to be funded by the $0.045 million donation in Parts 1 and 2 above, and a withdrawal of $0.01 million from the Tax Stabilization Reserve.

 

4.  City Council offer the following swim programs at SH Armstrong Community Centre/Duke of Connaught Pool from September to December 2017:

 

a. Women-only swim times; and

 

b. City instructional swim programs for the public, particularly toddlers, children and youth.

City Council re-opened Item EX22.2 for further consideration, only as it pertains to the service adjustment of the SH Armstrong Community Centre/Duke of Connaught Pool contained in the approved 2017 Operating Budget for Parks, Forestry and Recreation.
