HL8.14 - Use of Comparative Data by Local Health Integration Networks for Funding Distribution
- Decision Type:
The Board of Health:
1. Forwarded the communication from Councillor Ainslie to the Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network with the request that it respond directly to Councillor Ainslie, in consultation with the four other Local Health Integration Networks serving the City of Toronto, on comparative data on the scope of categories utilized through Local Health Integration Networks from the Ontario Ministry of Health, including queuing, access to the latest technologies, physicians, paraprofessionals and specialists, and coverage of health services beyond hospital and physician care as examples, and that the report also include data on the distribution of capital and operating funding distribution throughout the different networks over the last 10 years.
With this letter I am asking the Board of Health through the office of our Medical Officer of Health to request information on the comparative data utilized by Local Health Integration Networks most commonly known as LHINS to distribute capital and operating dollars to our local hospitals from the Ontario Ministry of Health.
The purpose of the update is to provide comparative data on the scope of categories supported through the Local Health Integration Networks, over the last 10 years with a focus on how capital and operating dollars are disbursed throughout the different networks.
This information is important to understand how our residents are being supported and to ensure that the needed funding is reaching our local hospitals.
I look forward to hearing your report at the Board of Health to ensure that the information is made available to all Members of Council.
That the Board of Health:
1. Forward this request to the Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network, and request that a response be provided to Councillor Ainslie, in consultation with the four other Local Health Integration Networks serving the City of Toronto.
