The Toronto and East York Community Council recommends that:

1.         City Council rescind the 30 km/h maximum speed limit on the sections of Shaw Street between Bloor Street West and Dupont Street, between Dundas Street West and Bloor Street West and between Wychcrest Avenue and Marchmount Road.

2.         City Council rescind the 40 km/h maximum speed limit on the sections of Shaw Street between Dupont Street and Wychcrest Avenue, between Marchmount Road and Davenport Road, between Queen Street West and Dundas Street West and between Queen Street West and King Street West.

3.         City Council approve a 30 km/h maximum speed limit on Shaw Street, between Davenport Road and Douro Street.

At its meeting of September 10, 2013, Toronto and East York Community Council adopted Item T26.117, directing Transportation Services to report on the feasibility of reducing the speed limit on Shaw Street to 30 km/h and amending the parking regulations on Shaw Street, adjacent to Fred Hamilton Park.

Transportation Services is requesting approval from City Council to reduce the speed limit on Shaw Street to 30 km/h.  The proposal will complement the Shaw Street Bikeway, providing a consistent speed limit over the length of the street and promoting a safer environment for all road users.  The proposed parking amendment on Shaw Street is a delegated item and will be addressed in a separate report to Toronto and East York Community Council, entitled "Parking Amendments - Shaw Street".
