Community Council Decision

The Toronto and East York Community Council::

 

1.         Requested the Chief Planner and Executive Director, City Planning, in consultation with the General Manager, Transportation Services, to include in the study of the Carlaw-Dundas corridor:

 

a.         Recommendations for safe pedestrian crossings on Carlaw Avenue.

 

b.         Public Realm and community benefits that are desirable for the neighbourhood and a plan to implement these benefits.

 

c.         A review of the feasibility of allowing condo-owners to construct loft space within their unit without requiring a variance from the Committee of Adjustment for increasing the gross floor area of the unit.

 

d.         Recommendations for transit provisions that promote economic development and quality of life in the neighbourhood.

 

e.         A review of the relationship of this community to the surrounding residential community.

 

f.          Incorporate the findings of the City Planning's ongoing condo consultations.

Summary

The review of the 2000 Dundas/Carlaw Neighbourhood Improvement Plan is an important opportunity to evaluate the public infrastructure in this growing area and to build a vibrant community.

Motions

1 - Motion to Amend Item moved by Councillor Paula Fletcher (Carried)

That the Toronto and East York Community Council amend the recommendation in the letter (February 7, 2013) from Councillor Fletcher by adding the words "in consultation with the General Manager, Transportation Services" after the words "Chief Planner", so that it shall now read as follows:

 

1.         Request the Chief Planner and Executive Director, City Planning, in consultation with the General Manager, Transportation Services, to include in the study of the Carlaw-Dundas corridor:

 

a.         Recommendations for safe pedestrian crossings on Carlaw Avenue.

 

b.         Public Realm and community benefits that are desirable for the neighbourhood and a plan to implement these benefits.
