City Council on October 30, 31 and November 1, 2012, adopted the following:
1. City Council request the Federal and Provincial Governments to provide funding and/or subsidies to offset the costs of processing wood waste generated from emerald ash borers for both private and public lands.

Committee Recommendations
The Parks and Environment Committee recommends that:
1. City Council request the Federal and Provincial Governments to provide funding and/or subsidies to offset the costs of processing wood waste generated from emerald ash borers for both private and public lands.

1. Requested the General Manager, Parks, Forestry and Recreation to report to the Parks and Environment Committee in early 2013 on options for large tree limbs to be re-purposed as distinct park furniture.

Summary
As a by-product of tree maintenance operations, Urban Forestry produces a large volume of wood chips, as well as tree limb and stem wood. This report outlines the nature of these by-products, current uses, recycling and disposal practices, as well as options for potential revenue generation.
