City Council Decision
City Council on July 11, 12 and 13, 2012, adopted the following:
1. City Council direct the City Solicitor to seek leave to intervene in support of the Barbra Schlifer Clinic's motion for an injunction to provide the City of Toronto perspective on the importance of why the Federal and Provincial government’s long-gun registry data should not be destroyed as it supports the health, safety and protection of the citizens of Toronto and in particular, it supports the long-standing Toronto campaign to end violence against women.
2. City Council write to the Premier of Ontario, with copies to the Ministry of the Attorney General and the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, asking the Province to introduce regulations on the sales of non-restricted firearms by businesses.
Confidential Attachment 1 to the report (July 10, 2012) from the City Solicitor remains confidential in its entirety in accordance with the City of Toronto Act, 2006, as it pertains to litigation that affects the City or one of its agencies or corporations and contains advice or communications that are subject to solicitor-client privilege.

July 12, 2012 - 9:06 p.m. - Speaker Nunziata advised that City Council had completed its closed session consideration of Item CC25.5, on a request to protect the data on non-restricted firearms registered to Ontarian owners. City Council debated this item, but did not adopt any motions.
That City Council amend Confidential Attachment 1 to the report (July 4, 2012) from the City Solicitor by deleting the confidential instruction and replacing it with the following instruction:
