  • Must be a resident of the city of Toronto;
  • Must be at least 18 years old;
  • Cannot be a spouse, partner, child or parent of a Member of Toronto City Council;
  • Cannot be a City employee or an employee of a City agency or corporation.

As outlined in the Terms of Reference approved by City Council in March 2023, the Housing Rights Advisory Committee is to be comprised of members with experience and expertise in housing and human rights and reflecting the socio-economic and geographic diversity of Toronto communities.

The information collected through the following questions will be used to ensure that the composition of the Advisory Committee meets the intersectional representation requirements mandated by City Council. The information will only be shared with those directly involved in reviewing applications and selecting members for appointment. The information will not be disclosed publicly. Please note that as part of the usual application process, a standard set of optional questions on how candidates self-identify are also included at the end of every application.

* 1. At least two of the public members of the Housing Rights Advisory Committee will be between the ages of 18 and 33.
